Jeff’s humanitarian career began in 2004 working alongside David Bassau (founder of Opportunity International) in response to the tsunami and earthquake that rocked Bande Aceh, Indonesia in 2004. The trip was to build a door and window factory and teach local people carpentry skills.From this trip to Bande Aceh Jeff became inspired to lead individuals and organisations to actively fight poverty and meet the immediate needs that a disaster or humanitarian crisis presents. Jeff has a Masters Degree in Business and over ten years experience in the building industry. Jeff is one of the founding Directors and Chief of Operations for Misfit Aid.
After honing his skills in the shaping room under prominent surfboard manufacturers such as HIC, Lost, Webber and Element, 2003 saw Dave start his own surfboard label, Misfit Shapes. In early 2010 Dave birthed the idea of developing a not-for-profit arm of Misfit Shapes and with the help of a few key partners created Misfit Aid. Dave continues to specialise primarily in Design and Production for Misfit Shapes and also sits as a Director of Misfit Aid.
Chris has over 15 years experience within the surf industry in both the retail and wholesale sectors. After five years as a surfing instructor, he moved to Sydney from Coffs Harbour and completed a Music and Business Degree. Upon completion of his studies, Chris went on to spend seven years in store management roles for Shady Haze, Surfection and Quiksilver Retail before moving to Insight as National Sales Manager. In early 2010, his partnership with Dave Howell realised The Sugarmill and Misfit Shapes. Chris is now General Manager of Misfit Shapes and associated brands, specialising in Sales, Marketing, Branding and Operations and is a Director of Misfit Aid and head of Communications.
