Misfit Aid have been back and forwards to Pichilemu, Chile since November 2010 after the town was devastated by a massive earthquake reaching 8.8 in magnitude. We have developed vital relationships with both Homes of Hope Chile and a local organisation within Pichilemu known as Pura Vida. Together we have re-built homes for local residents who had lost theirs in the disaster, helped to re-build the Olympic-size swimming pool that services the community and holds regional importance, set up local businesses with micro-finance loans and invested time and money into a sustainable form of agriculture known as aquaponics that once up and running will feed up to 100 people within the community.
All of these actions are designed to help the community stand on its own feet again and we envisage once Misfit Aid has completed its partnerships the community will be a self-supporting entity that will only get stronger and stronger.
This is an on-going project, however we felt it needed to be represented in both Previous and Current Projects.
